Product Specific Information

The CX5 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse NKG2D, a lectin-like molecule expressed on both human and mouse NK cells. Mouse NKG2D binds to retinoic acid-inducible RAE-1 alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, and the minor histocompatibility molecule H60. It can costimulate multiple NK activation receptors through DAP12/DAP10 adaptor molecules. NKG2D is expressed by spleen and liver NK cells, NK1.1⁺ thymocytes, in vitro activated LAK cells, and a subset of splenic NKT cells.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤1 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

Natural killer (NK) cells are lymphocytes capable of lysing tumor and virus-infected cells without prior activation. They regulate humoral and cell-mediated immunity and express C-type lectins involved in NK cell function. The NKG2 gene encodes a type II transmembrane protein with a C-type lectin domain, located within the NK complex containing several NK cell–specific lectin genes.
