Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody CC1 recognizes CD66a (CEACAM1), also known as carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1, biliary glycoprotein, and BPG.
CD66a is expressed on brush borders, epithelial, and endothelial cells. In hematopoietic cells, expression is found abundantly on B cells, some NKs, monocytes, DCs, and granulocytes. Resting mouse T lymphocytes do not express CD66a, confirmed by lack of staining with CC1 antibody.

In humans, CD66a expression levels have been used to identify malignancies. It plays a key role in regulating BCR activation of B lymphocytes.
An alternate allele, CEACAM1b, is expressed in SJL mice; therefore, CC1 does not stain SJL tissue.

CC1 has been shown to block viral infection and enhance B cell proliferation when combined with IgM crosslinking.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes at ≤0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Recommended careful titration for optimal performance.
Excitation: 488 nm; Emission: 520 nm; Laser: Blue Laser.

Target Information

CEACAM1 is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family within the immunoglobulin superfamily.
The CEA family includes cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins located on chromosome 19.
The protein was originally described in liver bile ducts and later found on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia.
It mediates cell adhesion via homophilic and heterophilic interactions and is involved in:

• Tissue differentiation and structural arrangement
• Angiogenesis and apoptosis
• Tumor suppression and metastasis regulation
• Modulation of innate and adaptive immune responses

Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported, with two full-length forms identified.
