Target Information
This gene encodes a protein identified in a screen for genes expressed in metastatic cells, specifically mammary adenocarcinoma cell lines. Expression of this gene correlates with metastatic potential in certain carcinomas, though it is also expressed in normal tissues. Its role in metastasis remains unclear. Initially thought to be part of the NuRD complex, it is more likely a distinct but similar protein sharing DNA-binding, dimerization, and methylation-related domains. This gene product likely regulates transcription through chromatin remodeling.
