Product Specific Information
- For Immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and epithelial layer maintenance. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking the E-cadherin complex to the actin cytoskeleton. Beta-catenin also associates with adenomatous polyposis coli protein and microtubules, participating in signaling pathways such as Wnt/Wingless.
It is expressed in various hair follicle cells and epithelial tissues. Dysregulation of beta-catenin is implicated in multiple cancers, including pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal, ovarian, and other solid tumors. In the nucleus, beta-catenin co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting genes like cyclin D and c-myc that drive cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
