Target Information
NANS 유전자는 시알산 생합성 경로에서 작용하는 효소를 암호화합니다. In vitro에서 이 단백질은 N-acetylmannosamine 6-phosphate 및 mannose 6-phosphate를 기질로 사용하여 N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac) 및 2-keto-3-deoxy-D-glycero-D-galacto-nononic acid (KDN)의 인산화 형태를 생성합니다. Neu5Ac phosphate 생성물에 대해 훨씬 높은 활성을 나타냅니다. 곤충 세포에서 이 유전자의 발현은 Neu5Ac 및 KDN 생산을 유도합니다. 이 유전자는 E. coli의 sialic acid synthase 유전자 neuB와 관련되어 있으며, E. coli neuB 음성 돌연변이에서 부분적으로 시알산 합성효소 활성을 복원할 수 있습니다.
