Target Information
BRCC45 was initially suggested to be a housekeeping protein highly expressed in brain and reproductive organs. Later studies showed BRCC45 forms a complex with BRCA1, BRCA2, RAD51, and BRCC36, exhibiting ubiquitin E3 ligase activity that enhances cellular survival following DNA damage.
It may also act as an anti-apoptotic protein by inhibiting BID-induced mitochondrial apoptosis. Elevated BRCC45 levels have been observed in hepatocellular carcinomas, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis.
At least three isoforms of BRCC45 are known.
