Target Information
MCM7 encodes a highly conserved mini-chromosome maintenance protein essential for the initiation of eukaryotic genome replication. The hexameric MCM complex (including MCM2, 4, 6, and 7) is a key component of the pre-replication complex (pre_RC) and plays a role in replication fork formation and recruitment of other DNA replication-related proteins. This complex possesses DNA helicase activity and may act as a DNA unwinding enzyme. MCM7 interacts with Cyclin D1-dependent kinase CDK4, which may regulate its binding with the tumor suppressor protein RB1/RB. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
