Target Information
The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and reversibly associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles. It mediates biosynthetic protein transport from the ER through the Golgi to the trans-Golgi network. The coatomer complex is essential for budding from Golgi membranes and retrograde Golgi-to-ER transport of dilysine-tagged proteins. In mammals, it is recruited by membranes associated with ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs), influencing Golgi integrity and LDL receptor recycling. It also regulates lipid homeostasis by controlling PLIN2 and PLIN3 presence at lipid droplets and promoting PNPLA2-mediated lipolysis. [UniProt]
