이 단백질은 조혈줄기세포 표지자로 알려져 있으며, 세포 부착, 분화, 증식 조절에 관여합니다.
CD34는 세포 외기질 또는 기질세포에 대한 부착을 매개하는 접착 분자로 작용할 수 있으며, 선택인(selectin)과 결합하는 당사슬 리간드를 제시하는 역할을 할 수 있습니다.
세포 내 도메인은 단백질 키나아제 C에 의해 인산화되어 신호전달에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다.
