Product Specific Information

On western blotting, this antibody detects a protein with an apparent molecular weight of approximately 150 kDa.
Positive controls include:

• Porcine aortic endothelial (PAE) cells transfected with a chimeric receptor consisting of the extracellular domain of the CSF-1 receptor coupled to the transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains of the mouse VEGFR2.
• 293T cells transfected with full-length VEGFR2 and stimulated with 10 ng/mL VEGF for 5 minutes.

VEGFR3 has not been tested but is expected to react with this antibody.

Target Information

KDR (FLK1, VEGFR2) is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that binds vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) with high affinity in vitro. It is expressed early in development by endothelial cell precursors.
FLK1 (VEGF Receptor 2) encodes one of the two receptors for VEGF, also known as kinase insert domain receptor. The signaling and trafficking of this receptor are regulated by multiple factors, including Rab GTPase, P2Y purine nucleotide receptor, integrin αVβ3, and T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase.
Mutations of FLK1 (VEGF Receptor 2) are implicated in infantile capillary hemangiomas.
