This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, chicken, non-human primate, rat, and Xenopus based on sequence homology.


Target Information

Enolase (2-phosphoglycerate hydrolyase or phosphopyruvate hydrates) is a glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 2-phosphoglycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate. It consists of three subunits: alpha, beta, and gamma.
Non-neuronal enolase (ENO1) is an isoform composed of two alpha subunits. The ENO1 gene also encodes a shorter monomeric structural lens protein, tau-crystallin.

This multifunctional enzyme contributes to glycolysis, growth control, hypoxia tolerance, and allergic responses. It may act in the fibrinolytic system by serving as a receptor and activator of plasminogen on cell surfaces such as leukocytes and neurons. ENO1 stimulates immunoglobulin production and is used as a diagnostic marker for various tumors.

In its alpha/gamma heterodimeric form, it serves as a marker for hypoxic brain injury after cardiac arrest and endometriosis. Antibodies against alpha-enolase are found in sera from patients with cancer-associated retinopathy syndrome (CAR). ENO1 is also identified as an autoantigen in Hashimoto encephalopathy (HE), a rare autoimmune disease associated with Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT).
