Target Information

The RFC2 gene encodes a member of the activator 1 small subunit family. DNA polymerase delta and epsilon require accessory proteins such as PCNA and replication factor C (RFC) for elongation of primed DNA templates.
RFC, also known as activator 1, is a protein complex with five distinct subunits. The 40 kDa subunit encoded by RFC2 binds ATP and may promote cell survival.
Disruption of this gene is associated with Williams syndrome.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
A pseudogene of RFC2 exists on chromosome 2.
