This antibody does not cross-react with other TIMP family members (TIMP1, TIMP3, TIMP4).
Target Information
TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 are inhibitory enzymes of the matrix metalloproteinase family and play a crucial role in maintaining connective tissue integrity.
TIMP-2 has high binding affinity to both latent (pro) and active forms of 72 kDa Type IV collagenase (MMP-2, gelatinase A) and also binds to the active form of 92 kDa Type IV collagenase (MMP-9, gelatinase B).
It inhibits proteolytic invasiveness of tumor cells and normal placental trophoblast cells.
