Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of DUSP1/MKP1 only when phosphorylated at Ser359.

Target Information

The DUSP1 gene is induced in human skin fibroblasts by oxidative or heat stress and growth factors. It encodes a protein similar to non-receptor-type protein-tyrosine phosphatases, showing sequence similarity to a Tyr/Ser-protein phosphatase encoded by the vaccinia virus late gene H1. DUSP1 protein exhibits intrinsic phosphatase activity, specifically inactivating mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase by dephosphorylating both phosphothreonine and phosphotyrosine residues. It also suppresses MAP kinase activation by oncogenic ras in Xenopus oocyte extracts, indicating its role in stress response and negative regulation of cellular proliferation.
