Product Specific Information
Antibody PAL-M1 stains the majority of primary melanomas and most metastases. It is directed against the transferrin receptor (CD71). Local staining of dysplastic nevocellular nevi may be observed, while common nevocellular nevi rarely stain.
Target Information
Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes found predominantly in the skin, but also in the bowel and eye (see uveal melanoma). Although it is a rarer form of skin cancer, it accounts for most skin cancer-related deaths. The only effective cure remains surgical resection of the primary tumor before it exceeds a thickness of 1 mm.
