Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, characterized by periodic changes in protein abundance throughout the cell cycle. Cyclins regulate CDK kinases, and different cyclins exhibit distinct expression and degradation patterns that coordinate mitotic events. Cyclin H forms a complex with CDK7 kinase and ring finger protein MAT1, functioning as a CDK-activating kinase (CAK) capable of phosphorylating CDK2 and CDC2. This complex is part of TFIIH and RNA polymerase II complexes, linking transcription regulation with cell cycle control.
