Target Information
CD3 subunit complex plays a crucial role in transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating TCR complex expression. The CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are immunoglobulin superfamily members encoded on chromosome 11. These subunits have cytoplasmic tails with tyrosine-based motifs mediating signal transduction. CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells, but not on B or NK cells. CD3 defects are associated with immunodeficiency and altered T lymphocyte populations in autoimmune diseases.
