Product Specific Information
This STLALYV monoclonal antibody recognizes human survivin (also known as Birc5), a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family. Survivin inhibits caspase activation, negatively regulating apoptosis, and plays a critical role in mitosis and cytokinesis. It is highly expressed in tumors and fetal tissue but absent in non-proliferating cells.
Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested using the Foxp3/Transcription Factor Staining Buffer Set (Product #00-5523-00).
Recommended use: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume. Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Fluorochrome Information:
eFluor® 660 replaces Alexa Fluor® 647.
- Excitation: 633–647 nm
- Emission: 668 nm
- Laser: Red Laser
- Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered
Target Information
Survivin (IAP4) is the smallest member of the Inhibitors of Apoptosis Protein (IAP) family. It is involved in cell signaling, division, and metabolism, showing high expression in tumors and fetal tissues but low in normal adult tissues. Survivin associates with mitotic spindle microtubules during mitosis, regulating apoptosis and cell cycle progression. Overexpression in cancer may allow cells to evade apoptosis and continue aberrant mitosis. It is also expressed in adult rat brain tissue following injury, suggesting a role in neural cell proliferation. Multiple transcript variants exist for this gene.
