Target Information
ATG4C는 자가포식(autophagy)에 관여하는 단백질로, 세포 내 손상된 단백질과 세포소기관을 제거하는 과정에 필수적입니다. 자가포식은 세포 항상성 유지, 분화, 형태변태, 비아폽토시스성 세포사 및 노화 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 일부 악성 종양에서 자가포식 수준 감소가 보고되었으며, 암 관련 비정상적 세포 성장 조절에도 관여할 가능성이 제시되었습니다.
이 유전자는 autophagin 단백질 계열의 구성원으로, cysteine protease C-54 계열에 속합니다. MAP1LC3, GABARAPL2 또는 GABARAP의 C-말단을 절단하여 form I을 생성하고, form II로 전환되어 phosphatidylethanolamine(PE)과 결합해 오토파고좀에 결합할 수 있습니다.
ATG4C는 골격근, 심장, 간 및 고환에서 높은 발현을 보입니다.
