Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD25 (Interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain), a 55 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on activated B and T lymphocytes, activated monocytes/macrophages, and on CD4+ regulatory T cells. Expression is lost on resting B and T lymphocytes.
Target Information
CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain / IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor component involved in T and B lymphocyte proliferation. The IL2 receptor complex consists of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG subunits, forming a high-affinity receptor. IL2RA homodimers form low-affinity receptors, while IL2RB homodimers form medium-affinity receptors. IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, regulating precise gene expression. IL2 functions as a growth and differentiation factor and regulates apoptosis, stimulating B cell proliferation, enhancing NK cell activity, and inhibiting granulocyte-macrophage colony formation. Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency and immune dysregulation.
