This antibody detects endogenous levels of total DNA Polymerase theta protein.
Target Information
DNA Polymerase theta (POLQ) promotes microhomology-mediated end-joining (MMEJ), an error-prone DNA repair pathway activated by double-strand breaks. POLQ inhibits the homologous recombination (HR) repair pathway by limiting RAD51 accumulation at resected ends. It binds directly to broken DNA ends, aligns microhomologous sequences, and extends DNA strands using opposing overhangs as templates. POLQ exhibits low-fidelity DNA synthesis, translesion synthesis, and lyase activity, and is implicated in interstrand cross-link repair, base excision repair, and DNA end-joining. It also contributes to somatic hypermutation of immunoglobulin genes. [UniProt]
