Target Information

Ephrin-B1 is a cell surface transmembrane ligand for Eph receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases crucial for migration, repulsion, and adhesion during neuronal, vascular, and epithelial development. It binds promiscuously to Eph receptors on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling between neighboring cells.

  • Forward signaling: downstream of the receptor
  • Reverse signaling: downstream of the ephrin ligand
  • Known receptor interactions: EPHA4, EPHA3, EPHB4
  • Biological roles:
    • Central role in heart morphogenesis and angiogenesis
    • Regulation of cell adhesion and migration
