Target Information
PDGFRB (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor forms homo- or heterodimers depending on the ligand bound. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, adjacent to genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, all potentially involved in the 5q- syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
