• For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10^6 cells in 100 µL.
• Rat anti-mouse F4/80 antibody (clone Cl:A3-1) recognizes the murine F4/80 antigen, an approximately 160 kDa cell surface glycoprotein of the EGF-TM7 family.
• The F4/80 antigen shares 68% amino acid identity with human EMR1 (EGF module-containing mucin-like hormone receptor 1).

Target Information

F4/80 antigen is a 160 kDa cell surface glycoprotein belonging to the EGF-TM7 family. It shares 68% amino acid identity with human EMR1. Expression of F4/80 varies during macrophage maturation and activation and is found on various mature tissue macrophages, including Kupffer cells, Langerhans cells, microglia, and macrophages in the gut lamina propria, peritoneal cavity, lung, thymus, bone marrow stroma, and spleen red pulp. It may also be expressed on a subset of dendritic cells but is absent from macrophages in T-cell areas of spleen and lymph nodes. The biological function is not fully defined, but studies suggest a role in generating efferent CD8⁺ regulatory T cells.
