Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an epitope (aa 1375–1395) located in the central domain of Microtubule Associated Protein 2ab (MAP2ab), an intracellular antigen.
Target Information
MAP2 (Microtubule Associated Protein 2) exists in two high molecular weight forms (MAP2a & MAP2b) and a low molecular weight form. Its expression is developmentally regulated and arises from alternative splicing of a single gene. MAP2 is involved in microtubule assembly, crucial for neurogenesis. In rat and mouse, MAP2 is a neuron-specific cytoskeletal protein enriched in dendrites, playing a role in dendritic shape stabilization during neuron development. MAP2 is useful for studying neuron structure in normal and malignant brain tissue, as well as neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).
