This antibody recognizes a common extracellular epitope on human HLA-DR that depends on the association of alpha and beta chains.
HLA-DR is a human MHC Class II isotype expressed on antigen-presenting cells (APC) such as dendritic cells, B lymphocytes, monocytes, and macrophages.

Recommended conditions:

• Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot: Non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

HLA-DR is a transmembrane glycoprotein composed of a 36 kDa alpha chain (DRA) and a 27 kDa beta chain (DRB).
The alpha chain gene (DRA) contains 5 exons:

• Exon 1: leader peptide
• Exons 2–3: extracellular domains
• Exon 4: transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic tail

DRA acts as the sole alpha chain for DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, and DRB5, while DRB1 contains polymorphisms determining peptide binding specificity.
HLA-DR is expressed primarily on antigen-presenting cells such as B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, thymic epithelial cells, and activated T lymphocytes.

HLA and MHC antibodies are important tools in Immunopeptidomics, enabling the identification and characterization of neoantigens through LC-MS/MS analysis.
