MMP3 (stromelysin-1)은 peptidase M10A 서브패밀리에 속하며, 분비형 전구 단백질 형태로 생성되어 세포외 단백질분해효소에 의해 활성화됩니다. 활성화된 효소는 콜라겐, 젤라틴, 피브로넥틴 및 라미닌을 분해하며, 상처 치유 및 조직 재형성과 같은 정상 세포 과정에 관여합니다. 유전자 변이는 관상동맥 심장 질환 6과 관련이 있을 수 있습니다.
