Target Information

EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates cellular responses to growth factors such as EGF and TGF-α. Overexpression of EGFR is associated with various cancers including head and neck, lung, breast, and bladder tumors. EGFR is encoded by the EGFR gene on chromosome 7 and belongs to the HER/ERbB family of receptors (ERbB2, ERbB3, ERbB4). Ligand binding leads to receptor dimerization and autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues, activating downstream signaling pathways.
