Target Information

Component of the 20S core proteasome complex involved in proteolytic degradation of intracellular proteins.
This complex plays essential roles in maintaining protein homeostasis by degrading misfolded, damaged, or no longer needed proteins.
When associated with regulatory particles such as 19S, PA200, or PA28, it participates in ATP-dependent or ubiquitin-independent proteolysis.
Functions include:

• Regulation of spermatogenesis (20S–PA200 complex)
• Generation of MHC class I-presented peptides (20S–PA28 complex)
• Inhibition of HIF-1A transactivation under normoxic and hypoxic conditions
• Enhancement of proteasome-mediated HIF-1A degradation under hypoxia
• Role in hepatitis C virus IRES-mediated translation
• Mediation of androgen receptor nuclear translocation and androgen-dependent transactivation
