Target Information
DNA-PK (DNA-dependent protein kinase) is a heterotrimeric enzyme that initiates signaling cascades in response to DNA damage. It is an atypical kinase closely related to PI3 kinases and can be inhibited by PI3K-targeting molecules. DNA-PK is part of the mediator complex, a transcriptional coactivator necessary for the expression of most genes. The mediator complex interacts with RNA polymerase II to promote formation of the transcriptional pre-initiation complex. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms of DNA-PK have been identified.
