Product Specific Information
This antibody binds Tyrosinase-related protein-1 (TRP-1), a 70–75 kDa enzyme located in melanocytes. TRP-1 stabilizes tyrosinase, which catalyzes the first step in melanin production, and determines the structure of melanosomes, the organelles where melanin is synthesized.
Target Information
The TYRP1 gene encodes a melanosomal enzyme belonging to the tyrosinase family, playing a key role in the melanin biosynthetic pathway. Mutations in this gene are associated with rufous oculocutaneous albinism and oculocutaneous albinism type III.
