Product Specific Information
The 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8a molecule, a 32–34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed as either CD8αβ heterodimer or CD8αα homodimer. CD8 binds MHC class I and, through association with p56lck, plays a role in T cell development and activation.

Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein involved in signal transduction and T cell differentiation. CD8 functions as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules and is expressed on T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. Activation of CD8+ T cells leads to cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) formation, essential for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
