This antibody detects endogenous AKAP8 protein at a molecular weight of approximately 95 kDa.

Target Information

The type II cAMP-protein kinase (PKA) is a multifunctional kinase with a broad range of substrates. Specificity of PKA signaling is mediated by compartmentalization of the kinase within the cell. The R subunit (RII) of PKA interacts with specific RII-anchoring proteins, known as A-kinase anchoring proteins (AKAPs).
AKAP95 (AKAP8) is a nuclear matrix protein predominantly expressed in liver, heart, pancreas, kidney, and skeletal muscle. During mitosis, AKAP95 is recruited to chromosomes and plays an essential role in mitotic progression. It participates in PKA signaling through interaction with the RII regulatory subunit and forms a complex with HA95 and HDAC3, required for histone H3 deacetylation during mitosis.
