Target Information
DNA replication, recombination, and repair—essential for genomic stability—require exonucleases. These enzymes process Okazaki fragments during replication and excise damaged DNA during repair. DNA polymerases (alpha, beta, delta, epsilon) participate in these processes.
DNA pol delta and epsilon are multisubunit enzymes; DNA pol delta includes p125 and p50 subunits.
DNA pol gamma replicates mitochondrial DNA, while DNA pol zeta mediates damage-induced mutagenesis.
DNA pol theta acts as a polymerase-helicase involved in interstrand crosslink repair.
