Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for human K-Ras (K-Ras2, Ki-Ras, c-K-ras, GTPase KRas) protein (accession # NP_004976.2, P01116), which is 100% homologous with mouse, 95% with rat, and 94% with bovine. Reactivity has been confirmed on Western blots with human HeLa and WI-38 cell lysates, as well as rat KNRK and mouse NIH 3T3 cell lysates, identifying the target band at approximately 21 kDa. Reactivity has also been confirmed with rat KNRK cells using immunoprecipitation and with HeLa cells by immunofluorescence. Based on amino acid sequence homology, reactivity with bovine is also expected.
Target Information
K-RAS (GTPase KRas) belongs to the Ras oncogene family. Ras proteins bind GDP/GTP and possess intrinsic GTPase activity. It plays a key role in regulating cell proliferation and contributes to oncogenic processes by inducing transcriptional silencing of tumor suppressor genes in colorectal cancer cells in a ZNF304-dependent manner. Mutations in this gene are associated with acute myelogenous leukemia, juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia, Noonan syndrome, gastric cancer, and cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome 2.
