Target Information
TCEB1, also known as protein elongin C, is a subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex. The SIII complex consists of elongins A/A2, B, and C, and it activates RNA polymerase II elongation by suppressing transient pausing during transcription.
Elongin A serves as the active component, while elongins B and C act as regulatory subunits. Elongin A2 is expressed specifically in the testis and forms a stable complex with elongins B and C.
The von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein binds to elongins B and C, inhibiting transcription elongation. Western blot analyses using two different antibodies targeting unique regions of this protein confirmed consistent molecular weight results.
