Target Information
Immunoglobulin classes share a basic structure of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa, lambda).
Kappa and lambda chains (22.5 kDa each) consist of variable and constant regions, distinguishable by antigenic properties.
The kappa to lambda ratio is approximately 70:30.
Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
Detection of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
