Target Information
BAP31 (B-Cell Receptor Associated Protein, 31-kDa) is a multiple membrane-spanning protein of the endoplasmic reticulum. It forms homo- and hetero-oligomers with BAP29 and acts as a potential apoptotic regulator associated with BCL-2/BCL-XL. The C-terminal domain contains recognition sites for Caspases 1 and 8, suggesting a role in programmed cell death. BAP31 is involved in transport of selected proteins to the Golgi apparatus and regulates CFTR expression, implying potential relevance in cystic fibrosis research.
