This affinity-purified antibody is directed against the MYC epitope tag and is useful for detecting overexpressed proteins in various assays.
It recognizes the MYC epitope tag (Glu-Gln-Lys-Leu-Ile-Ser-Glu-Glu-Asp-Leu) fused to either amino- or carboxy-termini of target proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation.
It forms a heterodimer with MAX, binding to the E-box DNA consensus sequence to regulate transcription of specific target genes.
Amplification of this gene is frequently observed in human cancers.
Translocations involving MYC are associated with Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Translation initiates from both an upstream non-AUG (CUG) and a downstream AUG start site, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
