Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45888 was sufficient for detection of c-Fos in 10 µg of serum-starved HeLa cells treated with PMA by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects a 62 kDa band. The observed molecular weight is higher than the predicted 41 kDa due to post-translational modifications.
Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular proto-oncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene on chromosome 14.
c-Fos heterodimerizes with c-Jun to form the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates transcription of several genes involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated by multiple stimuli including growth factors and insulin at several sites. The best-known upstream kinase for phosphorylation at Threonine 232 is ERK MAPK, which regulates nuclear localization of c-Fos and its transcriptional activity.
