Target Information
Uridylyltransferase that mediates terminal uridylation of mRNAs with short poly(A) tails, facilitating global mRNA decay. Essential for oocyte maturation and fertility. Plays a role in microRNA-induced gene silencing and biogenesis regulation through uridylation mechanisms. Acts as a suppressor of miRNA biogenesis by uridylating specific precursors like pre-let-7, preventing Dicer processing and promoting degradation. Functions redundantly with TUT7 and TUT4 in regulating LINE-1 retrotransposition and mRNA stability.
