Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody A1exF5 recognizes both human and mouse Arginase 1 (Arg1), a cytosolic enzyme. This clone is compatible with standard intracellular staining protocols and the Foxp3/Transcription Factor Staining Buffer Set.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells using the Intracellular Fixation & Permeabilization Buffer Set (Product #88-8824-00).

Target Information
Arginase-1 (Arg1) is a 35 kDa enzyme that converts L-arginine to urea and L-ornithine, the final step in the urea cycle. The resulting polyamines are vital for cell proliferation and detoxification of protein degradation byproducts.
By degrading arginine, Arginase 1 reduces nitric oxide synthesis by depriving NO synthase of its substrate.
It is expressed in liver, neutrophils, myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC), and neural stem cells in both human and mouse.
- In humans: expressed in blood neutrophils, not in CCR3+ granulocytes
- In mice: marker of alternatively activated macrophages (M2a)
- Found in myeloid cells infiltrating tumors and in most hepatocellular carcinomas
- Defects cause argininemia, an autosomal recessive disorder with hyperammonemia
