Target Information
CD23 is a 45 kDa glycoprotein expressed on a subset of peripheral blood and tonsil B cells, and strongly on EBV-transformed B lymphoblasts. It acts as a low-affinity IgE receptor and plays roles in B cell growth, differentiation, and IgE production. Soluble CD23 functions as a mitogenic factor. CD23 expression has been observed in B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and certain lymphomas. Dysfunctions are associated with chronic conjunctivitis and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
