This antibody reacts with recombinant Lac I protein. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with Lac I from Escherichia coli (strain DH10B) and Shigella sonnei (strain Ss046) based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with Lac I from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

The Lac I protein (lac repressor) is a key genetic control protein regulating lactose metabolism in E. coli. It binds specifically to the operator DNA sequence (Lac O), inhibiting transcription initiation by RNA polymerase. Inducer molecules modulate this binding, enabling regulation.
Different domains of Lac I exhibit distinct ligand-binding activities: the N-terminal domain binds DNA (specific and nonspecific), while the core domain binds inducers and specific DNA sequences.
This antibody may be used to recover and purify protein/nucleic acid complexes from infected cells.
