Target Information
MBL2 is a calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. It binds mannose, fucose, and N-acetylglucosamine on various microorganisms, activating the lectin complement pathway.
It also binds to late apoptotic and necrotic cells, facilitating their uptake by macrophages, but does not bind early apoptotic cells.
MBL2 may also bind DNA.
