Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific.
They consist of a selection of multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.

These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing high detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets.
Each lot contains a known mixture of light and heavy chains, ensuring reproducibility and eliminating biological variability common in polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

TLR4 (Toll-like receptor 4) is a member of the Toll-like receptor family, essential for pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity.
Highly conserved from Drosophila to humans, TLR4 is mainly expressed in placenta and myelomonocytic leukocytes.

TLR4 forms part of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor complex with CD14 and LY96, mediating signal transduction in response to LPS from Gram-negative bacteria.
It plays a key role in recognizing pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and triggering cytokine production for immune response.

Mutations in TLR4 can affect LPS responsiveness, and several transcript variants exist with uncertain coding potential.
TLR4 is expressed in peripheral blood monocytes, a small population of B-cells, and placenta.
Studies in TLR4-deficient mice confirm its role as the main receptor for LPS, with increased susceptibility to Gram-negative sepsis.
