Description:
The monoclonal antibody OX104 recognizes human CD200 (OX2), a member of the Ig superfamily with two Ig domains, a transmembrane and cytoplasmic domain. CD200 is expressed on resting and activated B cells, subsets of T cells, keratinocytes, nerve cells, follicular dendritic cells, and ovarian cells. Interaction with CD200R leads to macrophage activation (IL-6 production), inhibition of mast cell degranulation, and reduced TNFα and IL-13 secretion, contributing to immune regulation. CD200 expression on trophoblasts suggests a role in maternal tolerance.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

CD200 is a type-1 membrane glycoprotein containing two immunoglobulin domains, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It interacts with CD200R on myeloid cells to prevent macrophage activation. Homologues exist in herpesviruses and poxviruses. CD200 may regulate myeloid cell activity and deliver inhibitory signals in macrophage lineages. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist.
Diseases associated with CD200 dysfunction include Mantle Cell Lymphoma and Primary Hypertrophic Osteoarthropathy.
