Product Specific Information

The RM4-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, a subset of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II molecules and plays a critical role in T cell development and activation. RM4-5 binding is blocked by GK1.5.

Light Sensitivity

Protect vial and stained samples from light due to photo-induced oxidation.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is a co-receptor for MHC class II molecules and HIV. It is primarily expressed in T helper cells, as well as monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Tissue-level expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of the brain and gut. CD4 facilitates early T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts exist (RefSeq, July 2017).
