This antibody detects endogenous levels of total GFM2 protein.

Target Information

GFM2 is involved in mitochondrial translation, which is crucial for maintaining mitochondrial function. Mutations in this system can lead to breakdown of the respiratory chain–oxidative phosphorylation system and impaired maintenance of mitochondrial DNA.
Eukaryotic cells contain two protein translational systems, one in the cytoplasm and one in the mitochondria. This gene encodes one of the mitochondrial translation elongation factors. Its role in the regulation of normal mitochondrial function and disease states related to mitochondrial dysfunction is not fully understood. Alternative splicing results in at least three transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
