This antibody is predicted to react with human, mouse, bovine, chicken, and non-human primate based on 100% sequence homology.
In Western blot, this antibody is specific for ~65 kDa synaptotagmin I protein.
Target Information
Synaptotagmin 1 is a synaptic vesicle membrane glycoprotein widely expressed throughout the CNS and acts as the Ca²⁺ sensor in exocytosis and neurotransmitter release.
It mediates Ca²⁺-dependent binding of SNAP25, essential for membrane fusion triggering.
Residues within its C2B domain influence endocytic rate and synaptic vesicle size.
Synaptotagmin 1 binds acidic phospholipids requiring both acidic head groups and diacyl backbones.
It interacts with receptors for activated protein kinase C in a Ca²⁺-dependent manner, and with neurexins, syntaxin, and AP2 independently of Ca²⁺.
Dysfunction of Synaptotagmin 1 is associated with food-borne and infant botulism.
